Surveying and Mapping

Career opportunities for surveyors are on the rise, as land values increase and the need to use natural resources efficiently and protect our environment becomes more critical. The surveying and mapping concentration prepares students to work at the forefront of acquiring, analyzing, and managing land information.

Surveying and mapping students learn to:

  • use electronic field measuring equipment
  • create and plot computer-generated maps
  • interpret data derived from satellite positioning technology

This concentration is centered around a core sequence of six surveying and mapping courses that continuously challenge students to improve their technical knowledge, computer skills, and field competency.

Our students graduate prepared to sit for the licensed land surveyor examination series. They find employment as surveying technicians in field and office assignments for both public and private employers. For more information on Surveying and Mapping Tech Careers, visit the Career Paths page.
