Dietetic Technology - Salaries and Job Outlook

According to ADA's (now AND - Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) 2009 Dietetics Compensation & Benefits Survey, the DTR median hourly wage is $18.75/hour; if annualized, this equates to a salary of $39,000 per year, an increase of 8.3% since 2007. Salary levels vary with region, employment setting, geographical location, scope of responsibility and supply of DTRs.

The job market for DTRs is similar to that for RDs. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of dietetic technicians is expected to grow faster than average for all occupations, 13.9%, through the year 2018 because of increasing emphasis on disease prevention, a growing and aging population and public interest in nutrition.
